Directly discarded second-hand clothing is a huge waste of resources. Africa has a huge market size. What do entrepreneurs think about selling second-hand clothing to Africa?
Every year, everyone buys new clothes. In 2018, 54.06 billion pieces of clothing were sold nationwide. But few people pay attention to old clothes, buy new clothes, what to do with old clothes?
1. Clothes are never too much
In rural areas, the average lifespan of clothes is 3-4 years, especially for many middle-aged and elderly people, who are reluctant to throw them away when they are old. In towns, the average lifespan of clothes is 1-2 years, and even shorter for young people.
But many old clothes are either discarded or piled up in the closet. According to Xianyu data, the average Chinese family produces 60 kilograms of idle old clothes in a year.
Today, when women's clothing consumption is in vogue, women buy clothes at least twice a month, and trendy clothing only stays for one season. 80% of the clothes are forgotten after the season, but the number of clothes is still increasing at a rate of 15% every year.
Men's clothing impulses are lower, and they buy once a month on average. But they don't give away their old clothes, and they rarely throw away their old clothes.
2. Lose half of Daqing Oilfield in one year
Statistics show that, on average, each person in China buys about 10 pieces of new clothes every year, of which 3-5 pieces are discarded. 26 million to 28 million tons of clothes are discarded every year, and the utilization rate is less than 1%, which is a huge waste.
Some people know that an important raw material for clothing fibers is crude oil, which is equivalent to discarding more than 20 million tons of crude oil every year, more than half of the output of Daqing Oilfield.
